At the begining Habaradu division, a large area, was named as Talpe Pattuwa and then it was governed by Divisional Revenue office which was located in front of the Cement Factory at Unawatuna.
Then Talpe Pwattuwa included Imaduwa, Yakkalamulla and habaraduwa GN divisions Which are currently seperated in to AGA divisions. Habaraduwa Divisional Secretariate was establised in the decade of 1970 at Habaraduwa. In that period Habaraduwa AGA division included 102 GN divisions.
Thereafter Habaraduwa AGA Divsion was divided into two AGA divisions called Habaraduwa and Imaduwa. At present Habaraduwa AGA division includes 59 GN divisions. About 29 GN divisions were highly affected and completely destroyed by the Tsunami disaster on 26.12.2004. However Habaraduwa AGA division recovered to the better condition through overcoming all obstacles because of the genuine dedication of the current AGA, Lal Samarasekara and his staff.
